Whitburn Leisure Centre, West Lothian

This was a huge structural steel overclad extension to the existing Leisure Centre in West Lothian, to which Ashwood added a two-storey block housing two dance studios and a gymnasium. To help freshen up the look of the whole complex, the changing rooms were completely upgraded, along with the entrance foyer.

Innovation Park, Bellshill

A massive project by any standards, Ashwood was asked to provide three of the four blocks making up this large innovation park near Glasgow. While maintaining the original steel structures, the blocks needed converting from distribution, storage and logistics warehouse space, into modern office space with heating and electrical installations throughout. The existing sheet roofing, wall cladding and loading bay structures were removed to allow the construction of first floor offices using metal decking, concrete/steel columns and beam supports. Core stairs and lifts were installed to take people up from a new glazed entrance lobby with high-quality interior finishes such as curtained walls, raised access flooring and suspended ceilings.

Oakbank Park, Livingston

One of Ashwood’s speculative developments, this project was a joint venture with West Lothian Council to make eight high-end, light industrial/office pavilions available for lease or purchase in what is a prime location for any business wanting to make an impact on the central belt of Scotland. Units were adapted to meet the specific requirements of those who neede it. The project was approved for go-ahead by January 2006 with construction beginning the first week of April. By January this year, all units had either been sold or let to businesses.
